Best Practices include alternative commute options which can enhance your organizations. Read on!

Recruitment and retention
Programs that offer employees commuting options help with higher recruitment and retention. Why? Because they give employees choices that allow them to take control of their commutes. Traffic congestion, geographic constraints, and long commutes can discourage potential employees from joining your organization and keep you from retaining current employees. Commute options programs are of little or no cost to employers and can increase employee satisfaction. Replacing an employee can cost up to two times that employee's salary - a significant bottom-line loss.

Increased Productivity
Studies show employees who spend huge chunks of their day inching through traffic to and from work are less productive and creative on the job. Commuters who use commute alternatives are more rested and more relaxed, ready to take on the day. Thus, they are happier, healthier and more productive.

Cost Savings
Commute option programs can have a positive impact on your payroll tax liability. Federal Tax Code allows employers to provide tax-free transit, VanPool, and parking benefits to their employees. Actually, will link to whatever our new Tax Breaks page is. Up to $105 per month in pre-tax income can be used for these expenses and the net effect - for both employers and employees - is lower payroll taxes. The new Georgia TeleWork Tax Credit allows employers to receive a tax credit for implementing a TeleWork program at their worksite.

Free TeleWork Consulting
The Clean Air Campaign, in conjunction with LocalZOOM, provides free professional consulting services to employers and employees that are interested in starting or expanding a TeleWork program. With a value of up to $20,000 per employer, these resources help participants develop, expand and implement an effective TeleWorking program. Contact Alison more information.

Improved organizational morale
Commute option programs are a great employee benefit that will help decrease employee commute costs and stress which in turn will increase productivity and improve morale.

Improved Corporate Image
Reducing congestion and improving air quality for our region will improve your organizational identity. Get recognized for your outstanding commute options program through the region’s annual PACE Awards Event or through the national Best Workplace for Commuters designation.

Enhanced environmental commitment
Now it is more important than ever for your organization to be involved in socially responsible - environmental activities. Implementing a commute options program will greatly enhance your organization’s environmental commitment. For business, is health the new "green"?

Reduced Parking Demand
Parking can be a major expense. Employers can reduce their parking costs by implementing and promoting commute options programs.

Through well planned promotions, LocalZOOM can help you launch and maintain an effective commuter solutions program.
